State plans Ajijic-Jocotepec highway upgrade

The Jalisco government has included an upgrade of the Ajijic-Jocotepec highway among the infrastructure projects to be funded during the 2018-2024 administration.

The comprehensive plan to improve the state’s highway system drawn up by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP) includes an earmark of 82.84 million pesos to rebuild the roadway between the Libramiento and the junction with Highway 15 on Jocotepec’s western outskirts.

SIOP has set aside 942 million pesos in its 2019 budget for highway improvements, in addition to spending 2.1 billion pesos to construct six new roadways and rehabilitate six others in rural areas through a new credit line approved this week by the state legislature.

The agency’s goal is to maintain, repair and expand the entire 4,420-kilometer state highway network before the end of Governor Enrique Alfaro’s six-year term of office.
