Yuletide dining at Lakeside

Many lakeside restaurants will be closed for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but below are listed a few that have special holiday plans for you and yours.

Tio Domingo is holding a Christmas Posada meal Saturday, December 17, 6 p.m., including ponche, Christmas salad, roast pork with apple sauce and buñuelos for 350 pesos. Reservations: 376-766-2453.

Casa del Sol Inn is holding a traditional posada, feast and holiday concert Thursday, December 22, beginning 5 p.m. after the procession. Margaritas, ponche, handmade tacos and buñuelos will be served from 6 p.m., followed by a concert of holiday songs presented by the a capella ensemble of the CREM music school choir. 650 pesos. pg11a Armando’s Hideaway will serve a December 25 meal consisting of Waldorf salad, turkey and the trimmings, or shrimp in wine sauce, cake, a glass of wine and a Kahlua or brandy for 450 pesos. Reservations: 376-766-2229.

Bobby’s Restaurant Escondido is serving a four-course Christmas Eve dinner. Entrees include stuffed lobster Thermidor, breast of chicken stuffed with shite truffle duxelle and pistachios, roasted duckling a l’orange, filet mignon deux chef Roberto’s and a new dessert called “A Creation from Heaven.” 690 to 990 pesos. Casa Linda is open December 24 from noon to 5 p.m. The menu is cream of zucchini or autumn salad, bacon-wrapped filet mignon with red wine sauce, asparagus and rosemary potatoes and pecan pie, with vanilla ice cream for dessert. 430 pesos. Reservations: 376-108-0887.

Chatterleys starts holiday dinners as of Friday, December 16, noon to 8 p.m. You can choose from a pumpkin margarita, a sparkling peach cocktail or a Mexican fruit punch. Main meals are a choice of baked glazed ham with honey mustard and white wine glaze served with mashed potatoes and fruit salad; barbecue stuffed roast turkey with a bread stuffing incorporating apples, celery, cranberry, onions  and spices, served on a bed of mashed sweet potato and cranberry sauce; or Chatterley’s stuffed turkey with grapes, almonds, onions and garlic served with a spiced tamarind sauce, asparagus, cherry tomatoes and cranberry sauce. For dessert there is a chocolate volcano cake served with homemade ice cream or a panna cotta ginger and orange panna cotta served with crumbled almonds, roasted pear and an orange zest reduction sauce. 390 pesos. La Bodega is offering a Christmas Eve day dinner takeout menu with individual turkey dinners from 295 pesos; or stuffed boneless pork leg with mushroom sauce, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, by the kilo; and personal plates of fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. La Nueva Posada has two seatings on Christmas Day at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. The menu is a parsley three-cheese log with champagne crackers, pumpkin bisque, croissant, roast turkey, herbed dressing, cranberry sauce, whipped potatoes with giblet gravy, candied sweet potatoes, Danish red cabbage and English peas. For dessert, cheesecake with berries in liquored sauce, and liquor with your coffee for 550 pesos (350 pesos for children). Reservations: 376-766-1444/1344.

Malaga is serving a Christmas Day dinner menu of apple salad, beef Wellington, a glass of champagne and carrot cake with ice cream for 510 pesos. Reservations: 332-941-0629.

Manix offers two seatings on Christmas Day, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. The menu is roast turkey and suckling pig with all the trimmings and a dessert bar for 550 pesos. Buy your tickets now as they are going fast. 331-065-0725.
