Jocotepec leads local LGBTQIA+ pride parades

The Lake Chapala region is playing a big role in the 2026 National Calendar of LGBTQIA+ Marches.

pg1dThis series of pride events aimed at raising awareness, protecting and promoting the rights of sexual and gender diversity.

The Mexican Alliance of Marches has scheduled about 150 pride events nationwide. They started April 25 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, and will wrap up November 21 with a street parade departing from the Chapala Malecón.

The first local parade,  which kicked off the series,  took place in Jocotepec on Sunday, June 7. The route ran from the intersection of Hidalgo Sur and Vicente Guerrero down to the waterfront Malecón.

Another parade took place Thursday, June 11 in Ocotlán.

More pride marches are coming up:

Saturday, June 13 – Atequiza Delegation (Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos)

Saturday, June 20 – Poncitlán

Saturday, June 27 – La Barca and Chapala’s Atotonilquillo Delegation.

These events aren’t just about raising awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues. They also aim to strengthen coexistence, inclusion, and full recognition of rights across the country.
