Happy Mexicans

Mexicans are significantly happier than the majority of people in other industrialized nations, says the Better Life Index, a study recently carried out by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

This is despite the fact that Mexicans work longer hours than people in most other industrialized (OECD) countries and that families earn less than half (12,850 dollars) the annual wage of the 36 nations featured in the study.

Eight out of ten Mexicans reported having more positive experiences than negative ones, and rated their satisfaction with life as 8.9 on a scale from 0 to 10 – 0.8 percent higher than the average for other countries.  Mexico, however, is one of the most unequal countries, with 20 percent of its wealthiest inhabitants earning three times more than the 20 percent of lowest-earners.
