On Sunday, June 1, Mexico will go to the polls to elect hundreds of federal judges and magistrates in the first election of its kind in the republic.
While 11 states have chosen to impose restrictions on alcohol sales, Jalisco is not among them. Neighboring Zacatecas and Mexico City are among the states enforcing a “dry law” from Saturday evening until shortly after the polls close. Authorities in Jalisco have announced that security will be reinforced throughout election day, with an increased presence of state and federal police.
