Richard Preston Hawkins Jr.
Richard Preston Hawkins Jr. passed away April 27 at the age of 75.
Richard was born October 25, 1944 in Inglewood, California. During his childhood the family moved to San Francisco, where he attended Galileo High School. He loved baseball and played in a semi-pro league after graduation.
Richard was an excellent salesman, starting with shoes in the 1960s, eventually working his way to selling satellite systems for Hughes in the late 1990s.
In 1969, Richard married Theresa Gabel. Their sons, Wade and Todd, were born in 1972 and 1974. He shared his passion for baseball with both of them.
Richard was a thinker and a traveler. He had a wit about him and made you laugh. He liked to move around and experience new places and never let the moss grow under his feet. He loved his sons and would tell them so whenever they spoke.
Richard is survived by his wife Amparo and his two children. He will be missed.
