Although the City Hall press office had not yet released pertinent information at press time, we can assume that the Chapala government will sponsor a public New Year’s Eve shindig as it has in recent years.
The customary routine is to set off an artificial snowstorm from the City Hall rooftop and project a video mapping display on the façade after nightfall on December 31. Año Nuevo festivities crank up from around 9 p.m. along the waterfront Malecón, with live music for dancing by a guest band and a dazzling fireworks show blasting off from the end of the pier at the stroke of midnight.
Party-goers are welcome to set up their own tables and chairs all along the east leg of the boardwalk and carry in dining snacks and liquid refreshments of their choice.
