Governor visits Israel

Jalisco Governor Arisoteles Sandoval met with Shimon Peres on the second day of a four-day trade junket to Israel this week.

The former Israeli president seemed enthused to meet with the governor, and referred to the 42-year-old politician as a “representative” of “young and dynamic Mexico.”

Sandoval visited the Peres Center for Peace, the nation’s leading organization promoting peacebuilding between Israel and its neighbors – particularly with Palestinians – and talked with the Nobel Peace Prize winner about a range of issues, including clean energy, modern medicine and agriculture.

One of the chief aims of the trade trip is to develop ties with Silicon Wadi, an zone featuring a high concentration of high-tech industries located in Israel’s coastal plain, especially in the area around Tel Aviv.
