Guadalajara marked a historic milestone this week with a captivating reenactment celebrating the 700th anniversary of the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. The large-scale production, titled “Seven Centuries of Grandeur: Mexico-Tenochtitlan 1325-2025,” took place at the Pan American Stadium and was attended by thousands of spectators, including children and teenagers from across Jalisco.
Organized by the Mexican Ministry of Defense, the reenactment brought together over 800 performers, including actors, dancers and technical staff, all collaborating to bring to life the founding moment of Tenochtitlan. The performance recreated the iconic scene of the Aztecs spotting an eagle perched on a cactus, devouring a serpent—a symbolic moment that heralded the birth of the ancient city on Lake Texcoco.
