Nine members of an extended  family – four adults and five children – perished in a fire that broke out in a two-story house in Guadalajara’s Colonia Lomas de Independencia neighborhood last weekend. 

Jalisco’s favorite homegrown fruit, the cactus-borne pitaya, began invading fruit stands across the state last month.

The first prototype design for a new diesel/electric vehicle to replace Guadalajara’s calandrias (horse-drawn carriages) was released this week. The city council has ruled that the age-old tradition is unfair to the horses and is actively looking for a replacement.
