Free open-air concerts
City center’s opening public concert on the Paseo Fray Antonio Alcalde (facing the Rotunda) on Sunday, August 25, 6 p.m. With the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and top bands.
Multiple artists will perform on the same stage over the weekends of August 23-25 and August 30-September 1, from noon to 8 p.m. daily.
Closing public concert in the Plaza de las Americas in Zapopan on Sunday, September 1, 6 p.m.
Mariachi Galas
Mexico’s finest mariachi bands are joined by the Jalisco Philharmonic for these emotional musical spectacles, which help fund the festival’s free events. Featuring Mariachi de America, Sol de America, Mariachi Los Camperos, Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan and Mariachi Internacional CHG (Gamaliel Contreras Huerta). All are held at the Degollado Theater, except for the final concert in the series at the Auditorio Telmex on Wednesday, September 4, 9 p.m.

Homage to Orozco
Included in the festival is a homage to famed Jalisco-born muralist Jose Clemente Orozco and his work “El Hombre de Fuego” (Man on Fire) that adorns Guadalajara’s Cabañas Institute. This gala features the acclaimed Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, together with a full orchestra, and 70 artists on stage in total.
