Ribera Arts Review - June 22, 2013

After much deliberation, The Naked Stage board has decided to go ahead with the June 22 performance of “Occupant” by Edward Albee.

This show will be dedicated to Jeanne Chaussee, who always said “the show must go on.” Notes her daughter Libby: “My mother would have it no other way, death was the only reason to not do a show, and she meant only if it was the whole crew and cast. Keep your eyes open, she’ll let you know she’s there!”

“Occupant” is staged as an interview with renowned sculptor Louise Nevelson, who comes back after her death to tell it like it was.

Performance dates are Friday, June 21; Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, at 4 p.m. The box office opens at 3:15 p.m.

The Naked Stage will hold auditions for the July readings of “Do Not Go Gentle” by Susan L. Zeder on Thursday, June 27, 10 a.m. at the theater (Plaza de la Ribera on Rio Bravo 10A behind Daniel’s restaurant).

The show is directed by Robin Lawrason, who is looking for three men and four women. He is also seeking a 10-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl.

For more information or to get a digital version of the script, contact Lawrason at 766-3070 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Performance dates are July 26, 27 and 28.

Alejandro Alfaro on guitar is acclaimed as a musician, composer and arranger in both the jazz and popular music genres. Eliud Ernandes on bass earned his chops at an early age and more recently has been active as musical director in various theater presentations and collaborated with top rock, jazz and gospel musicians in Mexico.
