ASA
The Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) will exhibit their collective creations on Ajijic’s principal plaza on Sunday, April 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The organization of local artists will present paintings in varied media, jewelry, fabric art, photography and more. It’s definitely worth a stop. Those interested in joining ASA can find them on the first Monday of the month (the next one is May 7) 10 a.m. at La Bodega Restaurant, Calle 16 de Septiembre 124 in Ajijic. Get there early. The coffee’s ready at 9:30 a.m.
Children's art
Vern Geiger of Lakeside Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation introduces Cleopatra the Python to kids in LCS Children’s Art Program, while helping them enroll in the PROFEPA National Art Contest. The children can enter paintings and drawings of endangered animals and the environment. The LCS art program is open to all interested children and meets Saturday mornings.
History
Master architect and historian Eduardo Vargas will begin a workshop titled “Civilizations, Art, Culture and History” on Tuesday, April 24 at the Gonzalez Gallo Cultural Center in Chapala.
Ajijic arts festival
Be sure to make time in your schedules to visit the second annual Festival Cultural Sangre Viva, a three-day program of art and performances derived from Mexico’s indigenous roots.
CASA
The March meeting of the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA) was a very special one, as one of the members, Ginger Perkins, won her BING award so very early in the year. The BING is awarded to any CASA member who has three first place wins within a one-year period. Perkins won first-place ribbons in January, February and March of this year!
Judged show
The Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) opens its annual Judged Show on Saturday, March 17, 5 p.m. at the Ajijic Cultural Center located on the village’s principal plaza.
