Weekend happenings

Art lovers have plenty of options to attend happenings booked for this weekend.

Studio 18

Studio 18 Art Gallery (Colon 18, Ajijic) presents a Day of the Dead ceremony and exhibit on Saturday, November 2, from 4-7 p.m. More than 16 artists will be showing paintings, photographs and sculptures.  An altar erected by Lori Truly will be on display.

Wonder Woman

There’s still time to catch the final two Wonder Woman shows at El Piano Rojo, both fund-raisers for November’s Feria Maestros del Arte. 

Sweet music will fill the evening air in Chapala on Saturday, October 19 as student troubadours roam the downtown area belting out lively Spanish and Latin American folk songs.

Niñeras

This Saturday, Galeria Di Paola de Ajijic opens a fascinating photo exhibit focusing on the lives of niñeras or nanas (nannies or women who care for the small children of affluent parents) as seen through the eyes of renowned documentary  photographer Patrica Aridjis.

Storytellers

Unfortunately, the Storytellers event scheduled for Tuesday, October 8 at the Lake Chapala Society has been cancelled.
