Ribera Arts Review - January 30, 2015

ASA Events

Information from the newly published book, “Painting: Basics and More,” by working artist and teacher Marian Decker will provide the foundation for her talk at the Monday, February 2 Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) meeting. The group’s meetings are held the first Monday of the month at La Bodega at 10 a.m.

After spending most of her life in the San Francisco Bay, Decker has worked and lived in San Miguel Allende and Ajijic for the past 10 years. Most of her classes are five-day workshops or six-week courses in art centers. Her new book is the result of those teaching experiences.

“I prefer working with adults who have ‘always wanted to paint’ but just haven’t found the time until whenever ‘now’ happens,” says Decker who is the founder of the annual open studios events in Ajijic and is an active participant in the lively local art scene. She will be one of the artists exhibiting and working during the ASA Fourth Annual Open Studios event on Saturday February 7 and Sunday, February 8 when her home studio will be open to all “passport” holders. Passports for this event are being sold at the Lake Chapala Society from February 2 through 7. See more of Decker’s work at www.mariandeckerpaintings.com.
