Culture Secretary Myriam Vachez believes the monthly wage of Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) Musical Director Marco Parisotto does not contravene recently enacted legislation dictating that no government official or employee can earn more than the state governor.   

Guadalajara city hall is facing criticism for forking out 3.4 million pesos (US$168,000) to stage an exhibit of works by U.S. photographer/artist David LaChapelle. The exhibit is set to run at the Instituto Cultural Cabañas from March 25 to July 15.

Cadenza Festival

The Festival Internacional Cadenza at Palcco runs in conjunction with the Ajijic Northern Lights Music Festival, and features four concerts with talented Canadian, U.S. and Mexican musicians. Sunday, February 12, 6 p.m.: Gala concert with festival’s string orchestra interpreting works by Britten, Barber and Quantz.  Monday, February 13, 8:30 p.m.: Susan Hoeppner plays Mozart, Bloch, M.C. Baker and Reger.
