Spotlight on multi-dimensional woman at MUSA

One of the most engaging art shows to hit Guadalajara in some time is a retrospective of Spanish-born surrealist Remedios Varo at the University of Guadalajara’s MUSA, located in the equally engaging area at Avenida Vallarta and Enrique Diaz de Leon, slightly west of the city’s historic center.

May Festival closes with famed film score by feted British composer

The May Cultural Festival closes Sunday with a performance by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra of Sir William Walton’s score from the 1944 Oscar-winning movie “Henry V” (starring Laurence Olivier), conducted by Garry Walker, the director of the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra.  The work also features the Jalisco State Choir, directed by Sergio Hernandez.

The penultimate presentations in the May Cultural Festival will surely enthuse local modern dance fans when the 14-year-old Akram Khan Company, one of the foremost innovative dance outfits in the United Kingdom, present the show “Kaash.”
