By a rough accounting, there are more than ten highly active lakeside-based Facebook groups operating with anywhere from 1,500 to 10,000 followers or members. That’s not counting smaller focus groups, web boards and assorted websites.
If you surf around these cyber environments you quickly realize that a lot of folks spend an inordinate amount of precious hours glued to their computer screens and mobile devices. Don’t they have anything better to do?
While social media can serve as wonderful learning tools, if you don’t watch out they become highly addictive. And the number of useless, sometimes downright nasty postings one has to wade through can turn into an annoying waste of time.
