Taize Service: Is now held monthly on the third Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Our feeding program collects non-perishable food items to donate to “Operation Feed,” which helps about 140 families in and around San Juan Cosalá. Donations of rice, beans or cash, which allows us to buy at bulk for the lowest prices to help feed even more families, is especially welcome. If you opt for a cash donation, envelopes marked “Rice” or “Beans” are available every Sunday. If you sign your name to the envelope, your offering will be recorded as a church donation.

Our resale shop, Todo Bueno, which supports Outreach donations to the community, is desperately in need of workers in our store. Each shift is only 2.5 hours. Todo Bueno, in Riberas del Pilar, just west of S&S Auto, is open Tuesday to Saturday. Information: call Barbara Friesen, 331-016-0619.

Coffee and Cookies Ministry: A wonderful time for meeting friends and greeting newcomers. Please join us. We’re always grateful for volunteers to provide cookies. Those interested can sign up via the sign-up sheet near the garden pathway.

If you would like to donate to St. Andrew’s, checks can be made out to Andrew’s Fund U.S., or Andrew’s Fund Canada, both of which are tax-deductible.

Lakeside Presbyterian

This week Pastor Wayne Cook takes his text from Micah 6:8, “Who Is Like God?” and comments “Worship is an Action.”

Dr. Cook relates this experience:

“I once attended a Charismatic service. Suddenly a woman got really excited. She began jumping up and down. Then suddenly she started running around the auditorium. I wasn’t sure exactly what to make of it, but I have to admit, worship for her was an action.”

Micah is likewise a message about worshipping as an action.

Micah was a contemporary of the great prophet, Isaiah, and his book is of a similar style. Sometimes, in fact, this book is called “Isaiah in miniature,” because it is a much briefer presentation of essentially the same message as the prophecy of Isaiah.  His message is mostly toward the Northern Kingdom.

English-language service begins at 9:30 a.m., Spanish-language service at 11:00 a.m.

LPC is at Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas, (turn lakeside at Mom’s Restaurant).

The live English service streams each Sunday on Facebook/LPCChapala or at lpc-chapala.org.

If you need a ride, call  376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Lake Chapala Baptist

Last Sunday we heard John Whitener’s message to the church titled “A Longing for Freshness.” It was an impassioned plea for Christian revival, a massive change in mind and heart.

“Jesus Christ wants more than familiar routines from His church,” John said. “Scheduled religious services and meetings can, over time, run dry as dust. Might we experience a true revival in our church? Could we?

“During a revival, the church demonstrates conviction, repentance, prayer, and an insatiable thirst for the Word. It’s a collision with the Holy Spirit! It knocks you off course and awakens those who sleep. Revival isn’t a product; it can’t be manufactured. But we can prepare our hearts for its onset, and pray for it to come.

“First we must admit that the current church needs renewal, that we need to drink from the spring of life flowing constantly out of the Holy Spirit. Then we must repent of those actions, habits, and behaviors that lead only to desiccation and death.

“Spiritual thirst is a gift that replenishes the parched soul. Out of Christ’s heart flow rivers of living water! Plunge into the fountain, the mystery of life itself!”

Share memorable weekly sermons, uplifting music, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom at 10:45 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Baptist Church. Santa Margarita 147, Riberas del Pilar.

Abundant Life Church

It’s time to check your wardrobe. The winter months are coming and although the Chapala area is not considered a cold winter climate things still change. Clothing is an important observation of where we are. If you go the North Pole you will need heavy winter clothing and if you go to the beach you will need just the opposite. As believers we also have to consider carefully our wardrobe. Come this Sunday, Octobdf 30, as we are encouraged to put on all that God wants us to wear every day. Don´t forget to set your clock Saturday night as we leave daylight savings time!

English Sunday service is at the church at 10:30 a.m., also at abundantlifechapala.com.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico. Bible study in English is held at 11 a.m. each Wednesday with Spanish language Bible studies on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
