Lakeside Presbyterian
Saturday, March 4, 9:30 to 1 p.m., Lakeside Presbyterian Church will hold a bazaar, selling clothing, home decor, kitchen tools, bedding, books, DVDs, snacks and baked goods.
This Sunday, March 5, This week Pastor Wayne will talk about church.
What is the church? It is not a building; the earliest known building was in the third century A.D. It was not the temple; the temple was destroyed by the Romans and has never been rebuilt. Instead the church is the people of God, doing the work of Christ in the world, worshipping, praying, serving, sharing.
Paul, originally named Saul, was a devoted Pharisee who became the leader of the antichristian movement in Jerusalem. But he was converted after being arrested by Jesus Christ, and he became known as Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. Paul undertook three missionary journeys throughout the Roman Empire and founded a strong church in Ephesus. Later, while he was a prisoner in Rome, he wrote a letter to his beloved friends in Ephesus, teaching them about Christ and the church. Despite being on trial for his life, Paul was dedicated to building up the church he had founded.

Lake Chapala Baptists
In his latest sermon, Pastor Linton gave us an overview of how Christians can live a lifestyle closer to godliness than to worldliness, gleaned from Philippians 3:4-8.
“You don’t have to chase after anything,” he told us. “You don’t have to try to be better. All you need is Christ! Give your burdens to Him and He will carry them. Value not the things you have, but your relationship with Jesus.
“So much in the world distracts and leads us away from the abiding simplicity of Christ. We don’t worship a doctrine, beloveds. We worship Christ. Jesus paid a great price for you and He will never let you go. You are sanctified as your self-will drops from your life.
“It’s radical when Christ saves us. We flee from the world toward our ongoing sanctification through repentance. The desire for sanctification grows and grows. It’s our path to God, who is utterly irresistible to us. It starts in your heart, not your mind. Sin is not conquered because you tried hard to conquer it. God gives you grace to conquer it. God can redeem anything in your life and turn it to good.
“Have you repented of the self-will that consumes us? Nothing, not any of our gains nor any of our losses, means anything, compared to the beauty of Christ. Empty your heart through true repentance and fill it with Christ. We need a heart full of Christ!”
