Common Ground Fellowship

What is a Church? A place to worship? Yes. A place to enjoy fellowship, friendship? Absolutely. A place to learn?

I sure hope so! But, at Common Ground Fellowship, we believe there is more to our gathering than just those activities. Namely, we believe that the Church is intended to be the body of Christ on Earth. As such, we take seriously our role in serving our community, reaching out to love our neighbor as ourselves, even when they can never repay us. If being a part of a body that worships, fellowships, learns, loves, AND serves together, please join us this Sunday at 11 a.m. as we look at Philippians 4:10-23 in Pastor Ted’s sermon, “Contentment Without Confines,” to better understand how Paul’s contentment transcends his circumstances.

After the service, stay for coffee, cookies, and fellowship, as we enjoy the love and grace of God together. We meet next to the Latitude Margaritaville office in west Ajijic. All are welcome.

Lakeside PresbyterianChurch

This Sunday’s sermon: “I AM the Gate for the Sheep,” from John 10:7-10.

We recently began a sermon series on God’s identity—specifically what God says about himself. We started with God’s true name and its meaning and then the brief description God gave of himself when Moses asked God to reveal His glory. In the next few weeks of this series, we’ll focus on Jesus Christ’s “I AM” statements found in the Gospel of John that tell us what Jesus wanted us to know about His identity. In John 10:7-10, Jesus said, “I AM the gate for the sheep.” We’re much more familiar with Jesus’ saying “I AM the Good Shepherd,” and we’ll talk about that next week. But this week we’re looking at “I AM the gate for the sheep” and how that’s related to the abundant life Jesus wants for us.

English language service begins at 10 a.m. and has temporarily relocated to, Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs to the service. There is also a small elevator at the front of the building for those with limited mobility. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

Eckankar

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.

The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.

But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?

Meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.

Lake Chapala Baptist Church

In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul recalls the “sincere faith” that lived first in Timothy’s grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice—women who helped shape his spiritual foundation. Their quiet strength and unwavering belief became a legacy of faith that lived on in him. Today, take a moment to reach out to the women who have poured into YOUR life—your mom, grandma, sister, mentor, or friend. Let them know their presence matters, that their prayers, wisdom, and love are not forgotten. We might assume they know how much we care, but a simple word of gratitude or encouragement can refresh a weary soul. Whether they’re near or far, still here or now in memory, honor them. Their faith—however imperfect—has left fingerprints on your life. Reach out today and remind them: their light continues to shine through you.

English worship service is Sundays at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Dan Klassen. English-language Bible study is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m. Santa Margrita 147, Riberas del Pilar. Information: office: 376-765-2925; cell. +1-508 -838-9156.

Heritage Baptist Church

Love is the matrix of a Christian life, and the substance of it is an unselfish way of living.

Christian love should be like a never-ending river flowing. To make it continue uninterrupted, we must starve out every tendency of self-love.

Perhaps you have abandoned your first love. Over time, it’s easy to get lazy and revert to self-focus rather than warmly, affectionately, and freely considering our brothers and sisters before ourselves. This is a kind of crisis. The Bible tells us that at this point of lovelessness, our lampstand—Jesus Christ—will be removed.

Beloveds, a church without love is nothing but a religious institution. The church should be a harbor for those lost upon a sea of hatred. Within the true church, the Holy Spirit teaches us to love and fans its flame continually.

Love purely. Embrace moral behavior. Be content at all times. We need no other high priest or prophet but Christ. Christ alone is the one we must put our trust in.
