Tasca is a weekly columnist for the Guadalajara Reporter, author, playwright and actor. He is also a university graduate and sharpshooter, and has lived Lakeside for 15 years.

Spring Bicycle Ride

Join a group for the Spring Ride with Sala de Spinning coach Eric on Sunday, May 4, 7 a.m.

The ride will begin at Zaragoza 121 in Ajijic, taking participants along the Ciclovia to Chapala and back to Ajijic.

Ask an Expat

Wondering where to start when moving to Lakeside? Have questions about life in the area? Join the “Ask an Expat Happy Hour” on Tuesday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 20, at Casa Del Sol, Javier Mina 7 in Ajijic, starting at 4:30 p.m. Participation is free, and no reservations are required. Casa Del Sol’s full-service cash bar will be open.

Hosted by Steve Taylor, who retired to Lakeside in 2022, the event will focus on visitors’ questions. The happy hour will begin with Steve’s “10 Expat Commandments” for those new to Mexico. Silent Book Club

360 XQMX is hosting a silent book club on Thursday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. All readers and all types of books are welcome. Democrats Abroad

Join fellow U.S. citizens for a peaceful and respectful gathering in La Floresta (Ajijic) on Thursday, May 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. This event is in solidarity with recent Hands Off events across the U.S. and beyond. The gathering aims to send a moral message to the U.S. federal government: “Hands Off Our Ballots, Bodies, and Money.” Everyone is welcome—U.S. citizens, Mexicans, Canadians, and others.
