Athletes from long-distance running kings Kenya once again reigned supreme in the Guadalajara marathon, which unfolded on a chilly Sunday morning across 26 miles of city avenues and streets.
In the men’s race, Ondati Gesabwa crossed the finish line first in time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 43 seconds, while Ogla Jerono Kimaiyo triumphed in the women’s category in 2 hours, 41 minutes and 51 seconds.
Kenyans filled the podium in the men’s race, with Joseph Nyokwoyo Amenya coming in second and Julius Kipyego Keter third.
Two Mexican women, Karina Pérez Delgado and Dulce María Rodríguez (a former two-time champion), finished second and third respectively.
In an exciting wheelchair race in which the first places were separated by just one second, Gonzalo Valdovinos beat out Martín Velasco Soria in a time of one hour, 45 minutes and 43 seconds.
