The remaining work on the metro area’s stalled Tren Ligero (subway) line will restart Friday, March 29 after the federal government recently promised funding to finish the project.
Although the work is expected to be complete by the end of the year, the line is not expected to open until January 2020, according to the Transportation and Communications Secretariat.
Work will also begin to refurbish streets affected by the project that run parallel to the overhead section of the line. The 18-station line runs from Zapopan centro to the main bus station in Tonala via the city center, where it goes below ground for five stations.
