A giant marshmallow! Yet another Guinness record attempt to be held this Friday

Guadalajara’s obsession for setting obscure Guinness records is set to continue.

pg5bThe latest challenge: creating the world’s biggest marshmallow!

The task will be undertaken by Jalisco candy manufacturer Dulces de la Rosa, who set a record for the world’s largest marzipan in 2018.

The marshmallow is expected to weigh around 500 kilograms. The previous record, set by a school in Berkhamsted, England in 2019, weighed just 90 kilograms.

The marshmallow will be elaborated on Friday, April 28 in Guadalajara’s Plaza Fundadores, and its size will be validated by Guinness World Records personnel.

Dulces de la Rosa’s record-breaking marzipan weighed 8.2 tons, measured three meters in diameter and was 1.2 meters’ tall. To prepare the giant candy, 70 people worked for three hours and used 4.3 tons of sugar and four tons of peanuts.

Previous Guinness records set in Jalisco include the largest ever bottle of tequila, the tallest Day of the Dead catrina, the biggest torta ahogada, the longest line of hot dogs, the greatest number of mariachis singing at once and the largest woven canopy.

Dulces de la Rosa plans to set up its equipment in the Plaza Fundadores on Friday morning and expects validation of the giant marshmallow’s size in the afternoon.

Visitors are welcome to view the elaboration process.
