GDLUZ 2025, the free multimedia spectacle, will light up Guadalajara’s Centro Histórico for five dazzling nights, from Wednesday, February 12 to Sunday, February 16.
Timed to coincide with the city’s 483rd birthday celebration (Guadalajara was founded on February 14), this sound and light extravaganza draws large, but well-behaved crowds to the downtown core.
In previous editions, spectators have enjoyed stunning light displays on some of the city center’s most iconic buildings, monuments and plazas, as well as magnificent illuminated statues, installations and artistic presentations that blend music, technology and visual art.
This year, the Cathedral, Cabañas Institute and buildings surrounding Plaza de Armas and Plaza Liberación—including the Teatro Degollado—will be drenched in psychedelic geometric projections. The 2025 edition will also introduce a new “augmented reality” section, allowing attendees to interact with the projections through their mobile devices.
The displays will span a two-kilometer route through the city center, stretching from Plaza de Armas to the Cabañas Institute.
A new addition this year is a special area for children.
The sound and light experience will run nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Extra buses and an extended Tren Ligero schedule will be in effect for easier access.
