Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro has confirmed that Taiwan-based Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturer, has committed to building a major chip manufacturing facility in this state.
While Alfaro did not provide extensive details, the factory is expected to assemble AI servers using NVIDIA’s GB200 superchip for its next-generation Blackwell computing platform.
Founded in 1974 and headquartered in New Taipei City, Foxconn is best known for assembling products for major tech companies, including Apple, where it plays a key role in producing iPhones. Foxconn also manufactures products for companies like Sony, Microsoft, Dell and HP.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA, a U.S.-based multinational, is a key player in developing technologies such as autonomous vehicles, advanced simulations and generative AI models. The company powers many of the world’s top supercomputers and cloud services. Its AI chipsets, including the new Blackwell series, are at the forefront of machine learning advancements.
