For a boost in holiday spirits, Jalisco’s fourth annual Festival de Invierno Ilusionante offers a variety of free, family-oriented activities and entertainment programs running from December 8 through January 6.
This year’s festival includes diverse events in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, with extensions to Ajijic and ten other Pueblos Mágicos I(Magic Towns) in the state.
Winter festival events scheduled in Ajijic include the Hermanos Barba music and dance stage show on Sunday, December 15, at 7 p.m. at the esplanade outside the Centro Cultural de Ajijic (CCA). The Circo Bravissimo circus spectacle will follow on Wednesday, December 25, at the same time and location.
Artificial snowstorms will delight visitors in the plaza hourly, from 7 to 9 p.m., between December 16 and 30.
Several other independent holiday programs are also taking place at the CCA this month:
• Saturday, December 14, 7 p.m. – Night of Glory in Bethlehem, a traditional Pastorela (Shepherd’s Play) performed by the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) theater troupe.
• Friday, December 20, 7 p.m. – Ballet Ixtlacateotl will present a program of folk dances.
• Sunday, December 22, 4 p.m. – Ensamble Corpus Animumque will give a Christmas voice and piano recital. General admission is 100 pesos, with a reduced price of 80 pesos for children, students, teachers, and seniors.
