Israel Vallarta Cisneros, the man once accused of leading the “Los Zodiaco” kidnapping gang, was released from prison last Friday after a trial process that spanned nearly two decades.
Cisneros was granted his freedom when a judge determined she was unable to pass a sentence because the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) had failed to substantiate any of the charges.
Vallarta’s case was highly controversial because of its association with the high-profile case of Florence Cassez, a French woman who was arrested with him in December 2005 and spent eight years behind bars before being released.
