Colima festival welcomes GDL

The city of Colima will be in festive mood during the first days of June as the fifth edition of the Festival Internacional del Volcán unfolds.

This year’s event is of special interest to Tapatios, as Guadalajara is one of two guest cities invited to the party, along with Medellin, Colombia.

Cultural performances are scheduled in ten locations, with the main ones being the Foro Libertad and Foro Catedral, both located the city’s central plaza.  The others will focus on children’s activities, sports, theater and reading recitals.

Guadalajara city hall says some of the municipality’s “most representative artistic groups” will participate in the festival, which runs from Wednesday, May 31 to Sunday, June 4.

The festival is named for the nearby (and active) Colima Volcano (Volcán de Fuego), one of Colima state’s most characteristic natural icons.
