A few blocks from the downtown core in the Nueva Esquinas zone you will find the annual Feria de Pitaya, where dozens of vendors will be hawking this cactus-type fruit.
Pitayas are a tasty and refreshing treat during the hot Tapatio summer. They come in white, pink and orange colors, but the deep red “mamey” is recognized as the sweetest of the bunch.
The fair will run through the end of June. This area of the city center is also home to several top-rated birria (goat stew) eateries.
