A state legislator has introduced a bill to reform the Jalisco Penal Code, seeking to criminalize the creation of non-consensual deepfake pornography.
“Currently, this behavior is not expressly outlawed due to a legal loophole,” said Tonatiuh Bravo, a representative of Hagamos.

Bravo has proposed prison sentences of up to eight years for the offense.
