Around 90 members of the Mexican Army’s elite Special Forcesunit have been deployed to Jalisco to bolster security operations in metro Guadalajara and the Puerto Vallarta region.
The Special Forces, also known as the “Murciélagos” (Bats), specialize in high-risk and highly complex operations, including counter terrorism, hostage rescue and other tasks requiring specific skills and knowledge.
Special Forces members receive rigorous training that includes hand-to-hand combat, survival in extreme conditions, infiltration, parachuting, explosives handling, and other advanced techniques.
