Guadalajara marked a historic milestone this week with a captivating reenactment celebrating the 700th anniversary of the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. The large-scale production, titled “Seven Centuries of Grandeur: Mexico-Tenochtitlan 1325-2025,” took place at the Pan American Stadium and was attended by thousands of spectators, including children and teenagers from across Jalisco.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum presented her government’s first-year progress report in Jalisco on Sunday, September 28, addressing a large audience in the Plaza Bicentenario of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG). 

The Jalisco government is committing more than six billion pesos (US$301 million) to build a new Video Surveillance Center in Guadalajara’s Providencia neighborhood, along with advanced upgrades to the state’s security and cybersecurity systems.

The Jalisco state legislature has approved a law requiring parents and guardians to ensure that children and adolescents not only attend school but also remain enrolled until completing their education.

In Jalisco, a state now tragically known as Mexico’s epicenter of enforced disappearances, thousands of families live in constant uncertainty, searching for loved ones who vanish without explanation. Every day, more lives are interrupted, more families left in anguish, and the promise of justice feels increasingly out of reach.

Jalisco has solidified its position as a global leader in the spirits sector, hosting the 27th edition of the Brussels World Spirits Competition from September 7 to 12.   With over 2,800 samples from 70 countries, the prestigious event showcased Mexico’s significant role in the sector, contributing 20 percent of the registered samples.
