New music lover’s spot

A new music center has opened in Ajijic. Musicalerias Ajijic, located at Carretera Pte. 268-A (directly across from the French Bakery in West Ajijic), is Ajijic’s new go-to music store. It features professional recording facilities, a full inventory of instruments, accessories and teaching studios. Small group piano lessons (three students per group) will focus on Pop, Blues and Jazz. For more information, call Musicalerias manager Daniel Martinez at 331-447-4685, or drop by to check it out. • Joel Tallboy, Louie Pavao, and the Porch Boys will perform from noon to 4 p.m. at La Bella Vida, Constitución 6 in Ajijic.

• Blackwater Rockin’ Blues Review will play at the American Legion Post 7 Chapala’s July 4th event, from 2 to 6 p.m.

• Old Souls Band will perform at Mel’s Casa Social’s July 4th event, from 4 to 6 p.m.

• What the Funk?! will play at 4to Sentido’s July 4th event at 4:30 p.m.

SUNDAY

• The Cuarteto Satori will perform a tribute to Queen and The Beatles in a dinner concert at La Bodega Ajijic Restaurant, starting at 5:30 p.m. The Guadalajara-based musicians are members of some of the city’s top orchestras. Tickets are 500 pesos and available at La Bodega.

• Pianist Elias Manzo will perform Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy and Balakirev at a Firebird House Concert, held at Pajaro de Fuego 123 in Chapala Haciendas on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, both at 4 p.m. Tickets are 750 pesos, by reservation only. Auditions

• Lakeside Little Theatre will hold auditions for its October show on July 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Four women are needed for the main characters, and eight or more dancers and/or singers will be auditioned for ensemble numbers on July 9. Children’s Art Sale

The Efrén González Children’s Art Program is selling art cards featuring reproductions of works created by the children in the program. The sale is on Saturday, July 5 at the Centro Laguna Mall Art in the Plaza exhibition, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
