Starting in November 2025, Porter Airlines will begin connecting Puerto Vallarta with Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton, expanding the number of Canadian cities offering direct service to this popular Mexican resort to 17.
Porter will operate three weekly flights from Toronto Pearson starting November 14, two from Ottawa beginning December 13, and two from Hamilton commencing December 18.
Canadians account for nearly a quarter of all foreign tourists visiting Jalisco, with more than 490,000 Canadian arrivals by air in 2024, a two percent increase from the previous year.
For these new routes, Porter Airlines will use Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, each with a seating capacity of 132, configured with a two-by-two layout and no middle seats, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience.
In addition to the new Puerto Vallarta routes, Porter will operate 14 weekly flights to Cancun from Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton starting November 5, and will also offer flights to Nassau (Bahamas), Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands), and Liberia (Costa Rica).
“These are our first routes beyond our long-established network in Canada and the U.S., and we’re launching them in a big way,” said Kevin Jackson, president of Porter Airlines.
“We are thrilled with the growth of the Canadian market in Jalisco,” said Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Jalisco’s tourism minister. “This is a key moment to strengthen our ties, highlight the strong connection and affinity we share, and make it clear: in Jalisco, we welcome Canadians with open arms.”
Founded in 2006, Porter Airlines is headquartered at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and is the third-largest airline in Canada, behind Air Canada and WestJet.
Schedules
The Toronto–Puerto Vallarta route: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing at 10:30 a.m. and arriving at 3:10 p.m. The return flight from Puerto Vallarta to Toronto will follow the same schedule, departing at 4:10 p.m. and arriving at 9:50 p.m.
The Ottawa–Puerto Vallarta route: Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing at 8:30 a.m. and arriving at 1:20 p.m. The return flight will depart Puerto Vallarta at 2:20 p.m. and arrive in Ottawa at 8:10 p.m.
The Hamilton–Puerto Vallarta route: Mondays and Thursdays, departing at 1:45 p.m. and arriving at 6:15 p.m. The return flight will depart Puerto Vallarta at 7:15 p.m. and arrive in Hamilton at 12:50 a.m.
