Ribera Arts Review - February 05, 2022

ASA meeting change

Because of Covid-19 concerns, the Ajijic Society of the Arts election scheduled Monday, February 7, has been moved from La Bodega Restaurant to the Lake Chapala Society (16 de Septiembre 16, Ajijic).

pg17aThis new location is an outdoor setting where socially-distanced seating can be set up for the number of members expected at the meeting.

This meeting will be the only event happening at LCS on this date. All entrances will be closed except for the one half-way down the block on Ramón Corona.
To enter LCS, ASA members must wear a face mask, and their temperature will be checked. Because of Covid-19 protocols at LCS, they must wear their mask at all times.

ASA members who have not renewed their membership dues for 2022 can do so at one of the renewal tables and get a receipt.
Paid-up members can proceed to one of the voter registration tables to be issued a voting ballot.
They can then go to the area on the East Lawn or the Gazebo, where socially-distanced seating will be set up.

ASA believes that this will be a safer environment for its members for this important meeting.

Opera

“Boris Godunov” is the next Metropolitan Opera HD Live production, presented by the Chapala Opera Guild, on Saturday, February 12, 11:55 a.m. at Movie Space Cinema. Tickets available at Movie Space. Information:chapalaoperaguild.org.

Conductor Sebastian Weigle leads Mussorgsky’s masterwork, a pillar of the Russian repertoire, in its original 1869 version. Stephen Wadsworth’s affecting production poignantly captures the hope and suffering of the Russian people as well as the tsar himself — a complex, nuanced figure who is both a hero and a villain, a summit of the bass repertory, and an utterly engrossing character.
