Weekly Worship - April 13 2024

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Sunday, April 14, Bob Koches will present is “System Science, Love, & the Interconnected Web of Existence.”

Taking a holistic approach, this UU sermon challenges our traditional ways of thinking and explores the 7th UU principle and love, through the interconnected lenses of system science, gestalt thinking, and the Japanese concept of finding your purpose, known as ikigai. We’ll explore how these ideas can create a new perspective where love is the foundation for interconnected, purposeful living, and how understanding ourselves as part of a greater whole, embracing all aspects of life, and finding our purpose cultivates a more loving and interconnected world.

Jane Castleman is the service associate.

April 21, the service will feature Mario Pardillo as speaker and Tim Boeve as Service Associate on the topic of Earth Day.

Heritage Baptist Church

Even before the Passover Jesus already showed that he has power over death. Jesus says to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” John 11:25-26.

Jesus raises people to a new life in the Spirit. Martha considered her brother who was four days in the grave. But what Jesus did then, he does today, by raising people from a life of sin and death to a life of faith and joy in the Lord. Martha said, “Lord, don’t bother, he has been dead four days already; it is too late.” Don’t we say the same? He or she has been like this for so long, if there was going to be a change we would have seen it by now. But He who calls himself the resurrection and the life, raises people to a new life of faith. He can make a man dead in sin and trespasses come alive in the Spirit so that he turns to God in repentance and faith.

Pastor Wayne will speak this week about “Our Heavenly Home.

One of the oldest questions in the world is: “If a man dies, will he live again?” Deep within all our hearts is a longing for immortality. None of us wants to just stop existing. We do not want to be like mice or trees that are simply absorbed into the ground, leaving no trace. Something within us says that we must be immortal beings. In these verses, Jesus let’s us know that heaven is real, and will be our new home.

The English-language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. The Spanish-language service begins at 11 a.m.

Abundant Life Church

Our desires play a large part in what we can accomplish. Someone who wants to write a book is far more likely to do it than a person who has no desire to do so. The same applies to our walk with God. Those who desire to draw closer to Him will be far more likely to know him more than the one who says, ¨If God wants my attention then He knows where to find me¨. Come Sunday, April 14, as we endeavor to respond to the question posed by God to all of us: ¨Do you want more of me?¨

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone. Weekly Sunday worship services in English start at 10:30 a.m.
