• Mariachi Real Ajijic performs three concerts at Lakeside Little Theatre on Saturday, August 23, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and on Sunday, August 24, at 1 p.m. Enjoy Mexican music and fun from these talented young musicians. Tickets: 400 pesos. Available via LLT’s website or at the box office one hour before curtain. The majority of proceeds benefit the Mariachi School of Ajijic.
• The Centro Cultural Ajijic’s 20th anniversary celebrations continue Saturday, August 23, 6 p.m. with a classical and contemporary dance performance by Escuela de Danza de la Ribera. And on Sunday, August 24, noon, see a Ballroom Dance Show by Ocodance Academy, directed by Alejandro Ortiz, featuring Mexican and foreign dancers. Xikantzy Ballet Folklórico, directed by Judith Olivarez, performs at 6 p.m.
The performances will either be on the outdoor esplanade in front of the Centro Cultural Ajijic, or inside the building, located on the north side of the Ajijic plaza.
• The University of Guadalajara Coro de Cámara presents a captivating concert at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Sunday, August 24, 4 p.m. This event will raise funds to support the choir, which will represent Mexico at an international choral festival in Medellín, Colombia. Admission is by voluntary donation, with proceeds going towards travel expenses.
• Juan Manuel Ayala and Gilberto Rios, two double bassists, perform a free concert at the Centro Cultural González Gallo in Chapala on Sunday, August 24, 12:30 p.m. They’ll perform works by Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Carles Benavent and others.
• The Lake Chapala Orchestra presents its 3rd Summer Series concert on Saturday, September 13, 4 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Riberas del Pilar. Tickets: 300 pesos. Mariachi Festival
Tickets for the Encuentro de Mariachi concert on Saturday, August 30 at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera in Ajijic are no longer available. However, everyone is invited to attend the second local concert on Sunday, August 31, 7:30 p.m., at Chapala’s waterfront Malecon, with no charge for chairs in the open seating area. There will be 200 chairs set up in the open seating area. Latecomers/overflow crowd may be relegated to standing room only space. Admission is free of charge.

Art Auction
Efren Gonzalez hosts a summer art auction featuring oils, watercolors, acrylics, photographs, and more, on Friday, August 22, 4 p.m. on the Ajijic Plaza. Liquid refreshments will be served.
Artists of Lake Chapala
Artists of Lake Chapala will hold their first art show of the season on Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera in La Floresta on the Carretera. Artist members will be offering their original art for sale.
