Quirky Lakeside history

With the Covid-19 pandemic now waning, Jalisco’s Department of Health (SSJ) has begun ramping up a pre-rainy season campaign to prevent the spread of dengue fever, sending a brigade of agency staffers to the Chapala area to provide home dwellers with water treatment products that knock out the proliferation of disease-carrying mosquitos.

SSJ personnel allowed entry to private properties carry doses of larvae-killing chemicals to deposit in roof-top water tanks (tinacos), underground cisterns (aljibes), and other containers that hold standing water where mosquitos easily reproduce.

The government-authorized brigadistas are clearly identified by the matching khaki-colored vests they wear and individual official photo ID badges. A phone number is shown for verification of the person’s identity.
