Guadalajara resident Michael Hogan, an eminent historian, writer and the Emeritus Humanities Chair at the American School, has been commissioned to write the chapter “Juárez, Maximilian and the French Intervention” for the upcoming Oxford Book of Mexican History.

Leaders of a new Democratic political group for U.S. expats, fresh from their election held this week, have settled on a beer garden inside La Bocha Argentinian restaurant for a party to introduce themselves to those interested in the Democratic party and to celebrate U.S. Independence Day. The gathering is set for Tuesday, July 4, 7 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is located on at Avenida Guadalupe 1144, Colonia Chapalita, Guadalajara.

The recently formed Guadalajara chapter of Democrats Abroad is holding elections for officers, June 27-30. If you are interested in joining and voting in the election you can become a member of Democrats Abroad by going to DemocratsAbroad.org and signup.
