Governor delivers new patrol trucks

During an official visit to lakeside last week, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro turned over the keys to four brand new, fully equipped Nissan pickups to Chapala Public Security chief Raúl Valenciano Saucedo.

pg1bThe patrol vehicles have since been labeled with Chapala police department insignia and official ID numbers and put into service for routine vigilance and emergency response.

In another boon for local public safety operations, Alfaro announced the release of funding to complete the construction of the new police department headquarters, left unfinished and structurally flawed by the municipality’s previous administration. A building crew has already resumed work at facility, located in the vicinity of the Soriana supermarket.

Alfaro started his November 1 tour with a stopover at the Cuauhtémoc primary school in San Antonio Tlayacapan, selected as the second of 50 elementary institutions in 14 Jalisco municipalities to be incorporated in the Escuela par la Vida system this year. The School for Life program will operate with an extended school-day schedule encompassing food service for students and instruction in the arts, civics, nutrition and physical exercise to complement academic programs.

The governor also outlined 15 public works to be carried out in Chapala’s territory with an investment of 480 million pesos. The list includes highway and street improvements along with upgrades for five schools, three public health facilities and the municipal market.

He continued the tour in Jocotepec, where he announced the government will spend 419 million pesos on 11 infrastructure and building projects for the municipal seat and the outlying communities of San Juan Cosalá, Zapotitán de Hidalgo and El Molino. Two Jocotepec schools have been chosen to follow the School for Life model.
