Altars of Sorrow
Head to San Antonio Tlayacapan on Friday, March 27, 6 p.m. to join a guided tour of the residents’ candle-lit Altares de Nuestra Madre Dolorosa, where you’ll be offered different flavors of aguas frescas at each home, which represent the tears shed by the Virgen Maria. This is a tradition revered and continued by San Antonio residents.

LCS invites children to an Ojos de Dios workshop on Saturday, March 28, 10 a.m. to noon, where they will be introduced to the Wixárika tradition of creating and learning the significance of this artistic project under the instruction of Liliana Loza. Chapala Birders
Sunday, April 5, the Lake Chapala Birders will hold an informal birding walk along the Allen Lloyd Trail. Meet up at 8 a.m. with local and visiting birders in this very accessible location. To get to the trail head on the Libramiento, turn left (as you would for the Ribera Medical Center). Double back and drive up the left side of the hospital. Keep going uphill another half mile, and park on the only street to your left.
Tuesday, April 7, meet team leader Duncan Poole at 8 a.m. at the traffic light in La Floresta, near Restaurant Pranzo, departing immediately for Estación Bombeo. Friday, April 17, meet team leader Robert Taylor at 8:15 am at the entrance to Parque La Cristianía (Cristiania Park) in Chapala. Expect to see an interesting selection of species in the park and on the shore of the lake. We will likely still catch the nesting cattle egret in the trees throughout the park.
