Memorial service
A memorial service for Landon White Hollander will take place Sunday, November 20 at Restaurante Frascati in the La Cruz Marina, from 3 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, his wife says. There will be a no-host bar and finger foods will be served.
Hello to all of our friends and neighbors who live full time in and around the tranquil communities of Melaque and Barra de Navidad. Welcome to all who are here as visitors and are just getting settled in from their northern treks.
Labour of Love
At least 18 years have passed since work began on the Church of San Felipe de Jesus in Barra’s barrio. With continuous effort by the community half of the church is complete.
For Bibliophiles
When Leone Ewoldt built her house in Villa Obregon in 2006, she had a room made for a book exchange because of her love of reading and sharing books with others. Having sold everything, including hundreds of books when she left Seattle, her new little room soon filled up and the book exchange overflowed into her garage.
The Only Tours
Ray Calhoun discovered the Costa Alegre in the late 1980s. His seasonal work at a British Columbia marina allowed him time to head south in winter.
Art Walk
The Valentine’s Day Art Walk starts at the Ed Gilliam Studio, and continues to Casa Camera (11 artists will be featured) and La Taza Negra for iced coffee, watercolors and jewelry.
