Houston-based Transition Industries LLC has signed a major contract to build the Pacífico Mexinol project, a state-of-the-art chemical plant in Topolobampo, Sinaloa. The plant, set to begin operations in 2029, will produce ultra-low-carbon chemicals, including green and blue methanol.
The chemical plant will have the capacity to produce 350,000 tons of green methanol and 1.8 million tons of blue methanol annually. Both reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly compared to conventional methanol. Methanol is used to make plastics, paints, adhesives and synthetic fuels. By replacing conventional methanol with green or blue variants, industries can reduce their carbon footprint without changing their infrastructure.
