The Canadian Veterans Support Association (CVSA) held its fourth annual Canada Day celebration Tuesday, July 1, at El Pilar Bistro in Riberas del Pilar – drawing an enthusiastic crowd of over 80 attendees. The event, filled with patriotic spirit and camaraderie, welcomed both Canadians, Mexicans and Americans, with many attendees donning clothing adorned with Canadian flags and patriotic slogans.
The evening’s festivities were emceed by Wayne Nichol and Chris Riley, who kicked off the celebration by leading the crowd in a heartfelt rendition of “O Canada.” Following the anthem, CVSA President John Kelly delivered a brief yet inspiring speech, setting the tone for the evening.
Throughout the four-hour event, guests enjoyed a mix of engaging activities, including the giveaway of three gift baskets and a lively 50/50 draw. The lucky winner of the draw walked away with 2,500 pesos, while the remaining proceeds were earmarked to support CVSA’s charitable initiatives.
Attendees savored a delicious, all-Canadian three-course dinner, featuring a choice of tourtière, Pacific salmon, or steak paired with poutine. The Blue Cadillac band kept spirits high and feet moving, ensuring the dance floor stayed packed well into the evening.
