Dear Sir,

At 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, I was driving home to Ajijic after visiting friends. I live in the heart of the village. As I turned down a local street, I saw a full-sized white pick-up truck in the middle of the road, blocking my way.  I slowed down and noticed a man standing next to the driver’s side door. He looked in my direction and then turned toward me. When he did I saw an automatic weapon in his hand.

Soon we will be leaving Ajijic forever due to severe health concerns for my husband.  Before we go I need to send out a huge thank you to this wonderful community.  Without you we would have been lost.

Kudos to those considerate police I met in Guadalajara last month! They pulled me over apparently to search for drugs. I suppose a septuagenarian driving alone at night must have seemed suspect.

I have been overwhelmed this past week and even before that by the tremendous kindness, thoughtfulness and care shown to me by the people of the Lakeside community.
