The Charros victory Monday night qualifies the local ball club for the annual Serie del Caribe (Caribbean Series), which takes place in Panama February 4-10. 

This is the most important tournament for professional baseball teams in Latin America and features the champion clubs from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.  Panama returns to the competition this year, for the first time since 1960.

Mexico plays its four group stage games on February 4, 5, 7 and 8, against Venezuela and Cuba.

The first Caribbean Series was held 61 years ago.
