The Community Wish List - November 11, 2023

The Reporter publishes a community wish list on a monthly basis to highlight some of the needs of local organizations. The focus of this month’s wish list is on services provided to residents with specific needs.

Please respond directly to the organizations listed below if you would like to volunteer or donate. If you are a non-profit organization that helps to meet the needs of people and would like to be included in this list, email This email address is being protected from spambots. We Wanna Help! is a five-month-old organization centered in the Lake Chapala region that is dedicated to enriching the lives of the girls in three local care homes (commonly called orphanages): Treasure House, La Ola and Love in Action.  All of these girls have been sexually exploited, abused and/or abandoned.  We Wanna Help! has volunteers who spend time with these girls on a weekly basis, forming friendships, support systems, teaching art and playing games. They bring all of the needed art supplies, games, donated clothing, and even birthday celebration goodies.

Current needs:  With Christmas looming, We Wanna Help! is working hard to make sure this is the best Christmas ever for these adorable, worthy girls. If you can help with art supplies, Christmas presents (Amazon.com.mx can deliver right to their address), sports equipment, or nice quality clothing (especially shoes and socks) for ages three through 16, contact Jo Lapinski at This email address is being protected from spambots. Poco A Poco San Pedro Itzican has many needs in the communities in and around San Pedro Itzicán and Mezcala, both located in the municipality of Poncitlán to the east of Chapala. Our mission is to help the people living there to improve their lives, and the lives of others, for generations to come. We have been helping since 2016 and we do this by providing basic services and medicines to the community (of around 7,000 people).
