For the first time, state and Guadalajara municipal authorities issued a strong statement on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, which is observed May 17 with the aim of raising awareness of LGBT rights violations and stimulating interest in LGBT rights work worldwide.
Various city monuments were lit up in the six colors of the Pride flag, one of them the Rotunda of Illustrious Jalisco Citizens, located in the plaza to one side of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
