New air routes will bring more Canadians to GDL

Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines inaugurated its new non-stop Guadalajara-Vancouver route on May 31.  The flights are scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.

pg7In September, Flair will launch nonstop flights between Guadalajara and Toronto, also twice weekly.

“When we announced the routes, we were very impressed by the excellent response from both Canadians and Mexicans with strong ties to and from Guadalajara,” said Flair Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Garth Lund.

Flair Airlines has been in operation since 2017, connecting Canadian cities with Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and Cancun in Mexico, as well as Kingston in Jamaica and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Prior to the inaugural flight from the Guadalajara Airport, Jalisco Tourism Secretary Vanessa Pérez noted that 22 percent of international visitors to this state are from Canada. The number of Canadian visitors to Jalisco grew by five percent over the past year, she said. Thanks to these new flights, Pérez expects at least another five percent more Canadians to be touching down here over the coming 12 months.

According to some estimates, the two new flights will see around 100,000 additional arrivals in Guadalajara per year.  Of course, not all of these passengers will be Canadian citizens.

Other upcoming international flights coming to Jalisco include the weekly Prague-Puerto Vallarta route (every Tuesday) that will be operational between October 2024 and April 2025. The flight from the capital of the Czech Republic will be operated by the travel group DER Touristik through the airline World2Fly, using planes with a capacity for more than 400 passengers.
